Welcome to the Hearing Hub
The Hearing Accredited Workplace Programme provides practical tools and training to help your organisation to become more inclusive of the 880,000+ New Zealanders who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
The programme also teaches you and your team about hearing health in the workplace and how to care for hearing for life.
It's an excellent opportunity for everyone in the team to learn about Deaf culture, some basic New Zealand Sign Language and hearing loss aware communication strategies. As well as to gain a better understanding of how to monitor and protect hearing in the workplace.
We have a library of videos and booklets you and the team can work through to learn about how to support team members or customers who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Each module covers an essential topic for hearing awareness in the workplace.
We have a range of activities that are designed to assist your team to develop your hearing loss awareness.
These include: Hearing Screening Days, a Hearing Health Workshop, a Deaf Culture and Basic New Zealand Sign Language Workshop and Take 30 - interactive activities to learn more about everyday experiences of hearing loss.
Here you can access a library of resources you can print and hang in the workplace to show you are a hearing aware organisation.
Order care packages, Deaf and hard of hearing identity pins or visual communication cue cards, 'the Buddy Card.'
Access studies on Hearing Loss in New Zealand to better understand the impact of hearing loss in the workplace.
