Activities

As a member of HAWP you and the team will be invited to participate in a range of activities that will help you to become more aware of hearing in the workplace, how to look after hearing health, and how to support team members who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Read on to learn about our workshops, hearing screening days and Take 30 for hearing loss activities.

Hearing Screening Day

Hearing Screening Days are usually booked at the same time as Workshops. We recommend allowing between 5 - 10 minutes for each team member to complete the self-service screening.

If you have a large team, booking the Screening Kiosks for the week is recommended, as this ensures everyone has a chance to do their hearing health check-up.

There are so many reasons to take part:

Hearing loss affects 1 in 6 New Zealanders.

  • Around 11% of New Zealand’s workforce is Deaf or hard of hearing.

  • A lack of hearing loss awareness can impact productivity, health and safety, and can lead to work-related stress.

  • Many employees are not aware they have a hearing loss.

Out of 286 employees recently screened, 63% we referred for a full assessment.

What’s included?
Each workshop runs for 1 hour and is delivered to your team by NFDHH and partners.
